Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer and maintain the related correspondence. It is not disclosed outside our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers and analytics tools can automatically receive technical visit details:
- Page-view times and the pages opened
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Referring site, when supplied
- Browser name and version
- Approximate time spent on a page
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and related analytics help combine traffic information, such as which Douglas County pages are used most often and where visits end. Browser controls can reject cookies, although blocking them may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted search to the selected provider
- Maintain page speed, availability, and security
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Measure which content is useful to visitors
- Support advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Douglas County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies access routes at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Circuit Court, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party criminal profile or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search tools. Information submitted there is governed by that provider’s privacy policy, including its retention and disclosure rules. Read those terms before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Missouri agencies, court portals, the sheriff, legal resources, or third-party services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination’s policy governs the visit. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their collection practices are outside our control.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data can be available to:
- Analytics vendors that measure use and performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so unauthorized access or loss cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. A verified request concerning information submitted by a minor will be reviewed for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Missouri’s Sunshine Law, including RSMo §610.023, governs requests to public governmental bodies, not visitor data held by this private site. Missouri criminal-history dissemination is separately addressed by RSMo §43.506. Subject to verification and legal limits, you may:
- Request access to personal data kept about you
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion where retention is not required
- Object to eligible forms of data processing
